Adams Produce to Acquire Produce Operations of Metropolitan Foods
Birmingham, AL (March 2, 2010) – Adams Produce, a leading fresh produce distribution specialist servicing the Southeastern United States, announced today the acquisition of Metropolitan Foods in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Metropolitan Foods was founded by Womack, and his father Gil, in 1990, and has become one of the premiere foodservice distributors with select broadline items in Arkansas. The acquisition will include Metropolitan’s produce operation as well as additional fresh produce distribution.

With the addition of Metropolitan Foods, Adams’ is able to expand their service area through the majority of Arkansas, and brings the total number of Adams distribution operations to nine including one fresh cut processing operation.
